42nd Battalion RHC Pipe Band - Tentative Itinerary

Tuesday November 6th

  • Depart Montreal

Wednesday November 7th

  • Arrive Brussels, Belgium
  • Travel to Ypres

Thursday November 8th

  • Join up with RHC Association Tour to visit Vimy Ridge (Service of Remembrance),
  • 20:00 Menin Gate ceremony.

Friday November 9th

  • Travel to Mons.
  • Visit Saint-Symphorien Military Cemetery, burial location of first British and last Canadian soldier killed in WW1.
  • Mons Cemetery where five 42nd Bn. Soldiers are buried who died on 10 November 1918.
  • Visit Mons Memorial Museum.

Saturday November 10th;

  • Travel to Wallers - Arenberg, France
  • Ceremony and reception in Wallers - Arenberg, France.
  • Visit Auberchicourt British Cemetery, Auberchicourt, France, where seven RHC are buried, 4 who died in Wallers.
  • Visit Jemappes Cemetery, two 42nd Bn. died there on 10 November 1918.

Sunday November 11th

  • 10:30 Plaque unveiling, at 34 Place du Parc.
  • 10:50 Parade to Grande Place (Hotel de Ville).
  • 11:00 Remembrance ceremony
  • 11:20 Pipe Band and re-enactors march from Grande Place (Hotel de Ville) to Caserne Guillaume (Barracks) following original route and photos.
  • 12:00 Reception at Hotel de Ville.
  • 15:30 Parade of Liberation to Grande Place
  • 16:00 Memorial Ceremony
  • 17:00 Carillion concert

Monday November 12th

  • Travel to and depart from Brussel to Montreal
